  What's Been Up

I'm dashing this off right on line. I can't get my e mail
because I have a new computer (Dell - Ed wouldn't go for the
Mac). We got the new computer because our old one wouldn't work with hi speed, that we signed on for in a 3-way deal with Dish Network through Embarq. Ed says try it, so here I am but the modem on the old computer burned out so I can't get on line with it. We are now at the point of
having to transfer data. It's good Ed can figure things out
because I'd have to hire someone to come over and set things up. He says book mark it. But I can't because I don't have an account on this computer yet. So temporarily I am betwixt, also between.

xx to all and I'll be back ... Teal

New computers are fun, but a pain in the behind too!

We use a lot of those USB memory sticks to transfer data without the floppy drive.

Ed can probably whip it into shame in no time.

dear jon, we battened and then when it came time to re-open, the shutters kept jumping the track and getting stuck. Ed has to call the shutter company to come unstick one set. They are, when stuck, unbelievably difficult to fix.

Fay is over. It was just a big storm. My physical therapy outfit however was closed yesterday so I missed my session. Wimpy, wimpy, wimpy.

Great having a new computer, but the setting up can be a headache, especially if you have a different operating system. So, you have Vista then? We got the last of the XPs because my husband didn't want to go with Vista. Dell... They're supposed to be excellent computers, but we had trouble with the people in the company when we tried to place an order for 2 of them. So, we canceled the order and went with HP. Good luck to you!!

I can feel your pain. You don't know how many hours I've spent on the telephone with a tech... and then get transferred to another and another. But, hiring someone can get really expensive... pretty fast.

Dell has been okay with us. But the set-up choices and questions are mostly beyond me. Ed set it up. The new computer does not come with a 3x5
floppy so Ed is fussing with a transfer program to get my Word documents into the new Word. Isn't that a pain, though. Also I type in my info for a new access to something, and the screen goes back to the template as if I hadn't done that. I can't tell you how many times I have had to repeat set-up new account info. Tech support on line helped me with my E mail. I had to go to Tools and delete browser settings and history, etc. and then I got it to work. If Ed weren't figuring things out I would be hiring someone.

Best wishes with the new computer! Sending you a bouquet of patience....
Hoping Fay's crabby outbursts stay clear of you!
