  Dare You to Move

Dare You To Move
Artist Switchfoot

Welcome to the planet
Welcome to existence
Everyone's here
Everyone's here
Everybody's watching you now
Everybody waits for you now
What happens next?
What happens next?

I dare you to move
I dare you to move
I dare you to lift yourself up off the floor
I dare you to move
I dare you to move
Like today never happened
Today never happened before

Welcome to the fallout
Welcome to resistance
The tension is here
The tension is here
Between who you are and who you could be
Between how it is and how it should be

I dare you to move
I dare you to move
I dare you to lift yourself up off the floor
I dare you to move
I dare you to move
Like today never happened
Today never happened

Maybe redemption has stories to tell
Maybe forgiveness is right where you fell
Where can you run to escape from yourself?
Where you gonna go?
Where you gonna go?
Salvation is here

I dare you to move
I dare you to move
I dare you to lift yourself up off the floor
I dare you to move
I dare you to move
Like today never happened
Today never happened
Today never happened
Today never happened before

Switchfoot - Dare You To Move

Heard this song on the way home tonight. I said this sounds like one of the songs we sing in church. Then my son said it is. It is Switchfoot and they are a Christian Alternative band. They are a crossover band and this is one of the songs David Cook sang. David Cook won the American Idol this year. Yes, we have modern music with bands a lot like these guys. Every service is packed and there are a LOT of young people too. We have two Saturday night and four Sunday services. And the music is this loud too. The words to the songs are always put up on a screen. Kind of neat I thought as we were listening to one of our favorite rock stations.

The best church music I've ever heard was when I was working in the Dominican Republic and I went to Sunday services once. There was a band on the altar consisting of three electric guitars, a keyboard and drum set. The lyrics were flashed on a big screen behind the drummer, and EVERYBODY in the congregation sang the songs and swayed to the music!

Well Jim, that sounds a lot like the church we attend. It is very neat. Looking forward to going again tonight.

Yes it sure has Red! Even since I was in my early 30's it has changed a great deal. It sure does appeal to the younger crowd like my son and the messages are right on target. Really do like our Pastor and the other ones as well.
