Just Talking About This and That!! Lol :)

I was commenting on one of Brian45's posts about the annual Christian concert here called what I thought was "Freedom Fest" but, it is called "Celebrate Freedom". Anyway, it is always held the weekend before the 4th of July. We haven't been in years. The year we did go it was awesome!! The Newsboys were there and several others. It had rained earlier in the day and cooled things down so, it wasn't too terribly hot. Our son and two of his friends are going this year. From the artists line up it looks more geared towards the younger crowd. Scott and I won't be going it is too HOT for one thing and him with his back and me with my leg and foot problems that wouldn't work so well. I hope Nathan uses his sunscreen. He has a natural olive complexion and tans easily but in this heat you will still burn also the sunscreen protects against cancer even if you don't burn. My Mom used to be darker complected when she was younger and always tanned and saw no reason to wear the sunscreen. Well, back then it was called sun-tan lotion. She said, I'm already tan and I don't need it. I would wear it to get more of a tan. Well, now years later Mom has had to have several places removed from her arms and face because they were skin cancerous. So, it is *always good* to use the sunscreen at least 15 SPF if you are going to be out in the sun. I guess what I do think about is the sun is more fierce than it was back when I was a kid and more harmful rays get through. Also, usually skin cancer doesn't show up until years and years later. They say that just one bad sunburn in your life can turn into skin cancer later on. Kind of scary as I know I have had more than one bad sunburn before. :o!! I kind of got off of the subject a bit here but not really. Anyway, I am going to leave the link to the Celebrate Freedom site here......

We are getting up to 100 degrees now just about everyday here. The good thing is that our humidity has been low so, that is a HUGE PLUS for us!!! Usually we are hot and humid. The evenings haven't been too bad out. It is summer time in Texas what can I say? *sigh* I am feeling a bit better now. I have had to take pain pills and muscle relaxers which has caused me to sleep more than I want to. So, don't know how much I will sleep tonight. I will say that last night Nathan and I watched two good movies. "The Eye" really good kind of weird though. The next one is "The Bucket List" that one I call a "KEEPER"!!!:) We will have to purchase that one sometime in the near future. That is such a GREAT movie!!! We all just loved it!! Hope all are having a great week this week. Can't believe this year is half gone!!

I think sunscreen is an absolute must these days for me and my family. We are fair haired and fair skinned. Luckily, no skin cancer in our family that we know of yet.

Oh no!! Hope your computer straightens out. Oh all of you will LOVE the movie the Bucket List!! To us it is a *KEEPER* Oh Scott experienced those biting flies while he was in Rhode Island and Mass. a few weeks ago. He told me about how annoying they are. Hope you have a good day too.

Sooooo glad it hasn't been that hot here in northwest Ohio! Yikes!

I'm glad it hasn't either. Not too bad here as long as the humidity stays low. It is when that goes up that it can be very miserable here.

Definitely have to be careful with the sun. My Dad was French Canadian but I am "blessed" with my Mom's light Irish/Scottish skin so it is possible for me to get dark but if I don't do it VERY slowly, I will get burnt to a crisp and get sick!! When you're diabetic you have to be careful of the sun. For some reason I thought you lived in Kentucky not Texas?? Did you move? 100 degrees dry is not bad; we have 80 degree temps here with HIGH HUMIDITY around this time of the year and it gets BRUTAL How do you like Texas? Are there anyplaces you can live there without having a car? You can e-mail me outside of the blog if you want? I see you like horror movies too Have not seen "The Eye" -want to though. BTW, was watching the gospel channel countdown and there was a song by Warren Barfield (?)-he kinda sounds like the lead singer of Newsboys-really liked it a lot. Talk later-B

Oh yeah the humidity with the heat is brutal. We lived in the Houston/Galveston area for about two years. That was AWFUL!!! Didn't care for that at all. It can be hot and humid here too it just hasn't so far this summer. No, my Mom is from Kentucky and they moved out here when my oldest brother was a baby. I say out here it was in south eastern New Mexico. I was born in Amarillo, TX and grew up in New Mexico. Scott and I met there and married and lived there for the first 8 1/2 years of our marriage. Nathan was born in New Mexico. Scott's job transferred us to the Houston/Galveston area when Nathan was still a baby. Then they moved us to San Angelo, TX for about 8 months and then here to the Dallas/Fort Worth area. We have lived here for about 15 years. My Mom moved back to Kentucky after Scott and I were married. We were married almost a year when she moved back. I am the youngest and my Dad had passed away when I was 17. She wanted to be closer to her parents and sisters and all the family. She lived back there about 18 years before we moved her out here with us back in April of 2000. Her health was failing her and wanted her to be close to us so we could help her. We still have relatives in Kentucky and Tennessee on my Mom's side. Yes, Nathan and I do like horror movies!! The Eye was pretty good but, we didn't think it was real scary just kind of weird. But, it was good. I don't know the name of the lead singer to The Newsboys but it sure could be him.

100 degrees! OUCH!

Naturally olive and tanned in the family. I bet like me there is some native american in your blood too.Especially your mom, being from Kentucky. Years of night shift has about driven even that out of me, starting to look victorian/elizibethian pale

Haven't seen either of those flicks yet, just watched 10,000bc though. Very Apocolypto feeling flick..

Yes James, I believe there is some Cherokee Indian blood on my Mom's side. There is Choctaw Indian blood on my Dad's side. I know what you mean because Scott worked the night shift with his job for 13 years straight it will do that to you. Wow, I kind of want to see 10,000 bc. I think that you and Adam will enjoy both of those movies we watched. Well, the first one is a horror movie but, to me it was more weird than scary. Like I said the second one is a keeper!!
