McCain picks Palin as running mate
Alaska governor to be first female Republican VP nominee

http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/25970882/?GT1=43001

Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin, 44, is the first Alaskan to appear on a national ticket.

Gov. Sarah Palin has more executive experience than Obama and is not a plagerist like Biden. Hmmmm can you say that Obama screwed up BIG TIME? Yeah, he sure did!!

This is great!!!! A woman VP!!! And McCain has more honor and fortitude than the Obama/Biden.

Anyway, I've got the best running mate in the contest...Cindy Lou Who and she and I are gonna beat Obama/Biden and McCain Palin like rented mules.

I agree, Obama could've chosen someone else besides Biden...what a plastic phoney he is. Of course we'll have comfy places for Sprocket and Camille...and all the Greasytown pets. And they'll have the entire Rose Garden to run and play in.

You and Cindy Lou Who!! Too funny!!

Well, I think McCain made the smart choice myself and I think Obama made a BIG mistake in choosing Biden. I had heard of her because I have a friend that lives in Alaska and they are very impressed with her and I can see why!! Her acceptance speech and all of her accomplishments are awesome!!

I can't wait to see the furniture you and Cindy Lou Who pick out for the White House. Just remember to have a nice cushy window seat with a great view for Sprocky and Camille!!

Let's put Palin's two years of experience into context. She's the governor of Alaska -- a state with a population of 670,000. Her entire state has about as many people as Memphis, Tennessee, the country's 17th-largest city. So, 16 U.S. mayors have more constituents than Sarah Palin. Of course, she has her own mayoral pedigree, in Wasilla, Alaska, population 8,500. Not quite the same as day-to-day business in the Senate.

You are comparing apples to oranges and that doesn't work. Obama had 143 days in office before he started his Presidential campaign 18 months ago. In comparison Palin has *exucutive experience* all of them. Plus being governor she is the *Head of the National Guard* so she has Military experience which Obama doesn't have neither does Biden. And being a governor of a state has a LOT more to do with being closer to the people on a day to day basis. Whereas being in the Senate not as much especially for a Junior Senator like Obama. Just what are Obama's accomplishments? None that I have seen, read, heard, or watched!!! As far as Sarah Palin's accomplishments there are Many!!! And we all know John McCain accomplishments and his military record and experience!!

I think this could be a good move on McCain's part. As for me, I'm a Republicrat or a Demican, not sure which.
comment by teacherwoman on Aug 30, 2008 9:16 AM ()
Thanks Deb!! I think along with several others that McCain made the smart choice in choosing Sarah Palin as his VP!!

I'm a Republican and have been since my first time to get to vote at age 18 when Ronald Reagan was running for the first time!!
reply by texastar on Aug 30, 2008 11:00 AM ()
that is pretty cool! I have heard she did alot for Alaska during her term as governor!
comment by elkhound on Aug 30, 2008 7:17 AM ()
Hey Mare!! She has done A LOT for the good in Alaska and stood up against the cronies and takes care of her people and her state for the betterment of that state and people. Remember I told you before about my friend that moved to Alaska two years ago? Well, they are very pleased with everything she has done and is doing!!

The election with a woman VP!!! The next VP a woman!!

Thanks Jen!! I am really excited about this!! I think all women should be!!

Obama wasn't my first choice for Dem nominee but I would still go for him over The Geezer(McCain). Even though he messed up by choosing Biden. McCain's pathetic ploy in nominating a woman makes me think he fears losing. I don't want another four years of the same old crap that The Chimp has stuck us with. I want our troops home in case the home front needs defending and not stuck wasting their valuable time in Iraq getting themselves killed for no reason.

What a TOTAL IDIOT Obama is!!
reply by texastar on Aug 29, 2008 6:57 PM ()
That is your opinion and your choice not mine!! I don't think McCain is a geezer but do believe that Obama has very questionable ties to muslim terrorists and that is where his loyalties lie. He has stated that his loyalties lie with the muslim states. I posted some things before on here a few posts back. Here is one of the links and Obama himself is speaking. He doesn't know what the heck he is talking about as usual.

http://greasy.com/texastar/thumbs_hollywood_thinking.html

Here is another one. He(Obama) said himself and I can find the youtube if you would like that he has been in all 57 states of America and has one more to go. Oh wow what a brilliant person NOT!!! Again he doesn't know what the hell he is talking about!!

But I have since found out that there are 57 ISLAMIC STATES in the world. Hmmmmm very interesting. You vote for who you want. I am not going to change your mind or you mine. I am going to vote for a *True through and through American* and for someone who put his life on the line and almost lost it for our country to keep our country free. We still do live in a free country well, at least for now who knows if we still will if NOBAMA gets elected.

Sorry that we disagree. I just don't feel McCain is a good choice. I'm not 100% in favor of Obama but I like his views over McCain's. McCain is spewing the same crap The Chimp has done for the past almost 8 years. I'm sick of it and want someone different. I personally was hoping for Hillary but the Democrats made the final choice and I'm putting my vote for him. You vote for The Geezer if you want. I'm not going to stop you or change your mind. You are an American and you have the right.
reply by draco on Aug 29, 2008 2:54 PM ()
Well we disagree. John McCain is honorable and Nobama IS NOT!! Don't want or need someone with his *questionable ties* in office! Don't need *his kind of change*. Biden is a plagerist with charges brought up on him and Obama is being taken to court for real about his questionable citizenship.

A very prominent Philly PA attorney. So, if they were to get into office and that is a big if they might not stay there because this court stuff. Oh and the attorney is a Democrat and was filed on August 21st 2008. Not who I want in office.

Apparently you didn't listen to Sarah Palin's acceptance speech she just gave.
reply by texastar on Aug 29, 2008 11:20 AM ()
Maybe the theory is that a woman on the ticket will grab some of the "Hillary vote". Not likely, IMO. The VP needs to be presidential material. And if one of the criticisms of Obama is that he was unknown, well, hell, who in the lower 48 has heard of this woman? McCain lost my vote with the comparison between the streets of Iraq and a shopping mall in the Midwest (have we forgotten already?). At McCain's age, he needed a VP who could be electable on his/her own merit, and I don't think he has that here.
comment by jjoohhnn on Aug 29, 2008 10:17 AM ()
Palin has over 80% approval rating in her home state of Alaska!! That is amazing right there!! Hey that's ok Obama thinks we have *57 states in America* and he still has one or two more to visit.

I agree with Jim (Hayduke) Obama made a BIG mistake in who he chose to be his VP. Biden is only a few year younger than McCain. Biden is a plagerist and Obama well the list is too long of the stuff he has links to. Governor Palin has more executive experience than Obama. There is a difference in governoring a state for two years and being a junior Senator for 143 days before he started his Presidential campaign. I think Obama/Biden are in big trouble as far as votes. John McCain made the smart choice and Obama well, he is too arrogant and didn't care about his choice just so it benefited him not the country. IMO!
reply by texastar on Aug 29, 2008 10:46 AM ()
McCain has made a very smart choice here, and Obama made a big mistake, if if you ask me.
I think I won't make up my mind until I'm inside the voting booth.

I think so too Jim! I had already chosen to go with McCain even though he wasn't my choice to get the Republican nomination. But, there is no way I would vote for Obama. Yes, I believe Obama mad a BIG mistake too. And I think it is going to cost him votes. Well, I am glad to hear that you are still thinking about the vote.
