  Rambling I'm Sure

Well, I haven't posted in while, so I figure I might as well post SOMETHING.

Things here are good. School is driving me crazy, but that isn't anything new. I just completed the first half of the semester and according to my professor, I made an A in my juvenile justice class. I was worried. I was actually 4 points short, but I guess getting to class on time everyday and not missing, and getting to the changed location in the ice warrants gettiing 4 additional points.

I have added an additional 8 week class for this half of the semester, so life is about to get MORE crazy than it already was. Instead of having class just two nights a week, I will be going four nights a week plus the four classes I have during the day. Essentially, I am going double full time. I know none of this is shocking to any of you knowing that I have half the time to complete my degree.

All of the animals are doing GREAT. I took all of the 4 legged animals to the vet the other day to update shots. Charlie is literally my fat cat at 15.2 pounds. The vet tech says he is over weight and was likely overweight last year, but they didn't tell me that. So, I am not free feeding the cats anymore. They are now getting one cup of food a day, half in the morning and half in the evening, between the two of them. Leia is doing fine. She is also up about 2 pounds from 4 last year to 6 this year. Talon is always referred to as my 100 # lap dog, and I wasn't far off. She weighed in at 91 pounds. There's not a dog park here, and we are pretty much the only people we know with a big dog, so she doesn't get a lot of additional dog socialization except when we go to my dad's, but those are LITTLE dogs. We took her to the annual Yappie Days yesterday. There were all kinds of dogs and people and a WONDERFUL opportunity to socialize her to both. She did GREAT!! It took her about half an hour to settle down, and quit growling and just chill out and enjoy the day. By the time we left, any of the dogs that were there could approach her with no adverse action. I was very proud.

The birds are doing good too. A friend of mine has been spending a lot of time here just so that she can get out of the dorms. She has fallen head over heals for them. I believe I am in the process of training my number one volunteer for when I get the rescue up and running. She comes over WANTING to help with their care 100% from cleaning cages and food and water, to hold them while we get them clipped. I am actually glad to have her help, now I don't have to spend $10 per bird to get wings and nails done. She sings to them the entire time she is in there, just like I do. She will be glad to learn that they have started singing Happy Birthday, which is the new song that she introduced to them. They picked it up much quicker than they picked up MOST of the songs I have taught them.

Anyway, I guess that is all that is going on with me. Have a good day. Dyan
