With eight games on tap for today, let's take a look at what could unfold:
Ohio State vs. Xavier
This one isn't too hard to figure out. Xavier, even though impressive against BYU, doesn't have the manpower to stay with Ohio State for an entire 40 minutes. Greg Oden and Mike Conley Jr. will lead the Buckeyes to a runaway win.
Interestingly enough though, Ohio State coach Thad Matta was the former coach of Xavier. Not that this affects the game in any way, but still helps make it somewhat of an intriguing game.
Prediction: Ohio State 83, Xavier 68
Texas A&M vs. Louisville
This could potentially be the best game of the day. Acie Law IV is a star. If Texas A&M wins this game, he will be the reason. But Louisville is basically getting a home game playing in Lexington. And after a dominating performance against an undeserving tourney team in Stanford (*coughdrexelcough*), Louisville has to feel confident. It's a tough one to call but I like the Aggies mostly because I feel that Acie Law will carry them not just through this game, but to the Final Four.
Prediction: Texas A&M 71, Louisville 67
Maryland vs. Butler
Here's my thing with Maryland. I don't think there a bad team just an overseeded team. Just like every ACC team out there in my opinion except for North Carolina and Virginia Tech. (Duke at the #6 seed proved to be bullshit. Boston College is pure crap at #7. Virginia is way too inconsistent to be a #4, same thing with the Terps.) Plus, I like to go with mid-majors who have a decent seeding like Butler does. I think teams like this always feel they have something to prove.
Prediction: Butler 61, Maryland 51
Pittsburgh vs. VCU
This is a very easy pick in my eyes. VCU outplayed the hell out of Duke. Pittsburgh is an uninspired team in my eyes especially after I watched them lay down to Georgetown in the Big East championship game. This game is about who brings more to the table. VCU has heart, Pittsburgh is a fart. Eric Maynor of VCU will take control down the stretch again for a VCU win.
Prediction: VCU 75, Pittsburgh 72
UCLA vs. Indiana
No Gonzaga!? This was shocking to me. If Gonzaga would of made it this far to play UCLA, I would of picked the Bulldogs in a heartbeat. Just because of the reputation and that guy Ravio that I like so much. But instead, its the Indiana Hoosiers and their Harlem Globetrotters pants. I like UCLA and I have no explanation for it.
Prediction: UCLA 80, Indiana 63
Georgetown vs. Boston College
Boston College is a garbage. They just got lucky they played an even more garbage team in Texas Tech. Georgetown is a potential Final Four team that has won 15 of 16. Easy one.
Prediction: Georgetown 91, Boston College 70
North Carolina vs. Michigan St.
Drew Neitzel is the man on Michigan State. He's crazy. Too bad UNC has 3 guys equivalent to Drew Neitzel and more depth then any team in the country. Michigan State will stay in this early but expect the Tar Heels to ware them down.
Prediction: UNC 75, Michigan State 63
Washington State vs. Vanderbilt
I watched Washington State play USC in the Pac-10 semifinals and wasn't impressed with them. I had Vandy losing to George Washington in the 1st round of the tourney. I'm sorry to Vanderbilt and will reward them with a win today.
Prediction: Vanderbilt 64, Washington State 62
