  No Secret Ballot for Me

I'm voting for Obama, because he is NOT George Bush. I have hope.

I suspect that John McCain IS George Bush, so I'm not voting for him.

I'm so grateful that Chaney is leaving office, I thank God for it.

The next Inauguration can't come too soon.

I should get one of those countdown timer thingies.

If nobody shoots George, Cheney will never see power again.

If George manages not to push The Button between now and Jan.16, 2009, we may all have a happier new year.

All those years of Republicans in power have dragged us into a depression.

They haven't figured out how to say depression, so they keep saying "This may be the early signs of a recession."

Please let it end.

I know you may think McCain is somehow better for having been a military men, but when the Military is all you know, everything looks like a war.

Just like when all you have is a hammer, everything looks like a nail.

When all you have to choose from is Obama & McCain, choose Obama.

Please.

Oh and you saying...

I think you "nailed it" there...

Surely it is time to change the constitution so that Congress is the law and decision maker, as the Parliament is in the UK, Australia, New Zealand... surely it is better for several hundred representatives elected by simple majority to argue and debate and decide on the country's progress, than to allow one man, advised by non elected 'experts' to act like a dictator. If, as has happened in the USA and Zimbabwe just to name two examples, he proves to be insane, there's nothing anyone can do.
Get a real democracy that the people have some control over.

I like the Aussie Constitution. I don't know if enough Americans in the USA appreciate their franchise, and invoke their right to vote! That makes me sad. That is how we got a president like George Bush. Makes me want to clobber my few friends who don't vote. By me voting also requires being informed about the many issues a candidate for office will be facing, so they can make informed decisions. Nobody said Freedom was easy. It's Not! It requires a commitment to think! It Isn't even free, as the rows and rows of Crosses and Stars of David at any Military Cemetery proves.

I have some concerns about his inexperience, but I definitely think that can be overcome with the right support team. To be honest, no president is every fully up on all the things that he (or she) has to do while in control. I think he is easily a better option for our country than Mr. McCain.

McCain is yet another Saber Rattling Warmonger.
I'm not sure why, but he scares me a lot for the future
of My Country.

I'm concerned that McCain would only be a one term president and he'll do what ever he wants...I'm concerned that all he knows is military and with that in mind, he doesn't know that very well...I'm concerned about his legendary temper, when he does lose it he hangs onto it and emotions don't dictate logic...I'm concerned about the Rove people joining the campaign, things may once again get ugly...I'm concerned about his change of direction on torture, veteran's benefits, spying, courting the extreme right evangelicals, drilling, Bush's tax breaks for the very wealthy...I'm concerned about his age and the many years he's served in the senate... I'm concerned about his 100 percent Bush voting record...I'm concerned about his long term view in Iraq, the inability to see the real threat in Afghanistan and his Bomb, Bomb, Bomb, Iran...I'm concerned that in the end, this would be a Bush III and no real change will happen. However, I do believe anyone would be better then Bush but McCain can not stir a nation.

As for Obama...I'm concerned about his recent drift to the right to court the more ultra conservative vote...I'm concerned with his lack of experience however he can solve that by filling his cabinet with the best and the brightest...I'm concerned about the race issue and how the right will inflame it by any means possible.

I'm convinced beyond the rhetoric of his message, that hope and change will resonate in America. I believe that he needs to send a compelling message such as John Kennedy did with a "New Frontier" type of message to solidify real change and direction. We know that beyond the myths set forth by the 1000 days of Jack Kennedy, we had a nation ready to do what it can to solve problems and move forward collectively. America needs to reclaim the vision for the world that our democracy is once again the model for the world but most importantly, America needs to be challenged to address the carnage left by this current administration...energy, health care, the economy, foreign policy (Iran, Iraq, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Russia, Europe, etc), the pillage of the treasury, loss of American jobs, the debt and deficit, state's rights...America needs a mobilization, a clarion call for service to reclaim our moral standing and to collectively view all of these problems as our challenge and take responsibility individually to do what we can to solve them.

Frankly, I'm sick of the rhetoric that we should be scared and the we will protect you attitude...that's not what this country is about. We took on the most powerful country on the planet to gain our independence and ended the age of kings (and queens)...it's time for us to meet the greatest challenges since then and reclaim our legacy from that era and our beginnings.
