I have decided to post some of my favorite flower pictures. Most of them are mine, but the ones from Alaska and Texas are not.
It has been a glorious Summer. Even with lots of weird things happening, there was much to appreciate in the gardens in my life. My cactus garden has done some growing through the Summer, and now it's time to stop watering them until next Spring.
I took this closeup of one of about fifty flowers on my sister's hollyhocks. They were all beautiful, and the close-up shows every little detail of just one blossom.
My sister has beautiful Clematis every year. I always try to capture the enormity of the wall of flowers, and fail miserably.
This Foxglove was given to me by a helper I had for a while many years ago. I'm ashamed to admit I have long ago forgotten her name, but this and the white one keep cranking out flowers.
These are the flowers that make me envy Texans. The water out in the country has a vague oil smell, and it takes years to drive anywhere there, but the wildflowers there are a living memorial to Lady Bird Johnson.
For you younger ones out there, She was Lyndon Johnson's First Lady. Later, she took on the elimination of highway billboards and espoused the planting of native flowers along public roads, to the benefit of us all.
