This is a photo of "Bob-Rebus", a Bob Cat who was my mother's pet, protector, and traveling companion for many years on the road, and at home in New York and New Jersey. A long time ago it was legal to keep these creatures as pets.
Bob-Rebus was a relatively tame cat, ans if Mother left her office while Bob-Rebus was there. She would tell whoever was in the office to stay seated, and under no conditions to touch anything on her desk, One day a man took a cigarette lighter off Mama's Desk. When Mother returned to the office, Bob-Rebus was holding the man's hands gently between his front paws. No blood drawn, no pain, just, "No; mama doesn't let people take things off her desk."
He was more fierce than the Maine Coon Cats, which is probably how she came to love them. Naturally, when she became pregnant with my older sister, Bob-Rebus went to live in a petting zoo. We went and visited him until he died. The photographs don't do him justice. He was beautiful. Go back and look at the Main Coon Cat in my last entry. You will notice a similarity in the ear shape,
That's our story for tonight from the "I Remember my Mama" Collection.
