A nice photo, the person in the foreground gives perspective. How did those huge logs arrive at the base of the falls?

Runoff from the mountains above results in trees cascading over the falls and being washed down the Gorge until they form a logjam at that point. Every few years it's a super heavy runoff, and the logjam gets washed away completely, making the hiking much easier, if still chest deep in very frigid water! Then more trees come down, and it all begins again.
