John Day, Oregon, a beautiful place in Eastern Oregon with such vast colorful landscapes that a camera can get only a hint. unlike the Western Part of the state which is dramatic with mountains and water, this side of the Mountains is dry and breathtaking. The drama here is in the fossils and hidden dinosaurs waiting to be found.
This is a happy memory of a time when I lived in Portland with my friend Carolyn for a summer. It was great all so amazing, the Columbia River Gorge one week, the dried up oceans of John Day the next.
My friend Carolyn is in New York City, where I have not visited in many years. She has her cell phone and I'm one of her favorite calls, so it is free to call me several times a day and tell me what she is seeing and doing. This helps with the lying in bed or on the couch thinking and not thinking about Sylvia. It makes me participate in New York City!
