Psalm 135(134) Laudate nomen
1 ALLELUIA!
Praise the name of the Lord,
praise him, servants of the Lord,
2 who stand in the house of the Lord
in the courts of the house of our God.
3 Praise the Lord for the Lord is good.
Sing a psalm to his name for he is loving.
4 For the Lord has chosen Jacob for himself
and Israel for his own possession.
5 For I know that the Lord is great,
that our Lord is high above all gods.
6 The Lord does whatever he wills,
in heaven, on earth, in the seas.
7 He summons clouds from the ends of the earth;
makes lightning produce the rain;
from his treasuries he sends forth the wind.
8 The first-born of the Egyptians he smote,
of man and beast alike.
9 Signs and wonders he worked
in the midst of your land, O Egypt,
against Pharaoh and all his servants.
10 Nations in their greatness he struck
and kings in their splendor he slew.
11 Sihon, king of the Amorites,
Og, the king of Bashan,
and all the kingdoms of Canaan.
12 He let Israel inherit their land;
on his people their land he bestowed.
13 Lord, your name stands for ever,
unforgotten from age to age,
14 for the Lord does justice for his people;
the Lord takes pity on his servants.
15 Pagan idols are silver and gold,
the work of human hands.
16 They have mouths but they cannot speak;
they have eyes but they cannot see.
17 They have ears but they cannot hear;
there is never a breath on their lips.
18 Their makers will come to be like them
and so will all who trust in them!
19 Sons of Israel, bless the Lord!
Sons of Aaron, bless the Lord!
20 Sons of Levi, bless the Lord!
You who fear him, bless the Lord!
21 From Zion may the Lord be blessed,
he who dwells in Jerusalem!
But Wait! There's More! God has thousands of names, I like this translation of the Psalms a lot. Happy Easter to those of you who celebrate. I'll celebrate anything with almost anybody. Your God, mine, his, theirs.
Golly I'm writing from Linux again. It Works!
I'm tearing myself away from Bob Hope and Delores Del Rio to write these words. I was in an aircraft with hundreds of other people again. And I'm getting my usual post vacation Airplane crud. Stuffy nose, coughing, sore throat. Hold your sympathy, though. I had a great time and am prepared to pay the piper. The Pro From Dover climbed into my computer through the wires and fixed the Linux connection problem. It's eerie and fun, knowing that your friend and computer guru is "inside the computer" and far away at the same time. Magic!
On Vacation I went to the Mission "La Purimisia Concepcion". There are lots of California Missions, and I have seen many of them. There is a web site about them:
They have pictures of most if not all of them. The State has declared them all historical sites, and most of them are restored or being restored. The one I saw in Lompoc has sheep and horses grazing on the land, and on weekends there are Docents who come and weave cloth from sheep's wool, and make candles for sale. The gift shop is filled with Made in Mexico trinkets, and things like "Wool from our Sheep" and fabrics woven there on site.
Heck, this is turning into a real brain dump here. And it's time for beddie, past time. Stephy goes to bed. Maybe I will sort this all out tomorrow, or maybe not.
There is no channel for Chaos or Brain Dump. I choose Arts & Culture.
