Life may not be a game, but if it were there would be a lot of disqualifications due to cheating. Many who see themselves as honest, will cheat at the first opportunity. This cheating becomes habit forming and is committed with the least amount of remorse. Examples include:
- running red lights
- sneaking up the lane that is closing and forcing ahead of more patient drivers
- getting ahead of others in lineups
- taking advantage of other's errors (it's my lucky day)
- leaving shopping carts in the parking area to damage cars
- cutting messages and articles out of books, magazines, etc. that belong to others
- returning an item to a retailer with a guarantee satisfaction policy after purchasing the item with no intent to keep it
- finding things and not returning them to the rightful owner (finders keepers)
- taking all the meat and vegetables from the soup at a buffet, leaving the only the broth for everyone else
- zeroing in on one or two items at a buffet, cleaning out the serving dish, and leaving it empty for the next person
- disposing of personal garbage by discarding in public spaces or burning it at the expense of the environment
If you see yourself participating in any of these activities, or others not yet mentioned, you are cheating at the game of life. But ultimately, you won't be among life's winners.
