It's as If You Were Here - the Kitchen.

Here is my spice cupboard. I am trying to use them up, but never seem to make much progress.

This is my dried bean collection. I combine them to make bean soup. The great big white ones second from the right are called Mortgage Lifters because you would save so much money eating them all the time your mortgage would be paid off in no time. Next to them on the right are Zuni Gold a heritage variety produced by Adobe Milling of Dove Creek, Colorado.

This is our refrigerator including Mr. Tbend's used dish collection.

In order to be frugal he rinses out his cereal bowl and tea cup after each breakfast and saves it for tomorrow. That's the green mug. The pink mug in the bowl is for his water at lunch. In Las Vegas he keeps them inside the refrigerator so they stay fresher. The Cheerios are his and the big container of white stuff is my cornstarch. Next to the Cheerios is a giant jar of dry coffee creamer that I keep around in case my friend Fran comes to visit.

One of the magnets came from Ms. Sue (susil) in Mississippi - the largish red one on on the right.

These are my most interesting cupboards. I looked in all the others and none of them called out to me for publication.

No wonder you are a good cook. You have all the ingredients.

You certainly have a knack for raising the mundane to the level of poetic.

It's an unexpressed invite to you all to show us what's in your spice cupboard.

And I thought I had a lot of spices! You are organized though. I'm impressed.

My mother-in-law has her spices alphabetized, but that's too anal for me.

Your cupboards are way neater than mine. Any new recipe that calls for a
spice I don't have gets ignored. I don't use the spices I have now. Once a year for nutmeg. Sheesh. We have 10 6-ounce tumblers Ed uses for the Coke he drinks all day. At the end of the day they are all in the dishwasher. I wait as long as I can at night before starting the dishwasher. However, the snack mouse sometimes gets up and eats in the
middle of the night and in the morning I find dirty dishes in the refrigerator. At least I got the mouse to store them away from the bugs.

I'm trying to use it all up - it's all years old and is the result of combining several households. When I do run out of a seasoning a lot of times I pour the new into one of the old empty bottles that I inherited from my mother so some of it isn't as old as it seems.
