Don't Mess with Buddy the Cat

Buddy the Cat likes some people more than others, and gives some people a chance to prove themselves. One of the things he really hates is being teased by someone pretending to eat his food. Jeri's (elderjane) husband made this mistake and Buddy never forgave him or trusted him after that. It was all over for Ted, and Buddy rubbed it in by extra nice to Jeri.

Fortunately it didn't go as far as hissing and yowling, because that means Buddy wants you out of the house and he is not going to be happy until you leave. This has happened only one or two times.

Buddy is always sweetness and light to us, so we don't find out these things until we have company.

Buddy is a person in a cat suit. He liked smelling me and sitting by me but then I brought him his own quilt.

Darling! I find the male cats seem to have more of a personality than the female... then again, I have Carmellia and she tends to just dismiss them all.

He hates Cousin Karen who has seven cats because she takes on a funny patronizing tone of voice when she talks to him.

We do take them to a different part of the house and tell them not to try to make it up to him; most people can't seem to believe it's all over, that Buddy will never be their friend. When he's really mad, we can't touch him to move him elsewhere.

Buddy has got that "look" as if to say, "Don't mess with me!!" I, for one, would take him very seriously if I dropped by for a visit.

We tell people to not make eye contact and let him come to you. If he doesn't like the sound of people's voices he takes off for under the bed. You could turn out to be one of his favorite people.
