  Tree on the Phone Line

Big excitement. Mr. Troutbend was hiking back of the house today and discovered a dead tree had been blown down and is leaning on the main phone line.

We don't know how long it has been this way, but fortunately it missed the smaller line and is leaning against the big, thick heavy line, which is the telephone line between Loveland and Estes Park, Colorado.

Mr. Tbend says when the tree first fell it wasn't near the wires, but then the part that is now pointing upwards snapped off the base near the ground and flopped over onto the wire.

Here are the roots of the tree and the base.

It looks a lot bigger from a distance. Mr. Tbend was talking about chains and ropes and come-alongs as if he was contemplating dealing with it himself, but I called the phone company about it. They act like I'm talking about some small branch that is threatening the phone line to my house. I can't wait until they see what is really going on; they'll wish they'd sent someone to look it today instead of waiting until tomorrow when it is going to snow 2 to 7 inches.

Here is the view from up by the roots. That is me sitting on a rock so I don't slide down the steep slope.

Crazy weather all over, for sure. Good photos. Maybe I'll learn how to do that someday.

We have been very cool for May. It must be blowing down from your way.
Joan says yes.

You should get yesterday's storm, and then another one is coming. It seems late to have this snowy weather, but we never plant anything delicate until after Memorial Day, so it's not unheard of.

It was a good snow - didn't stick on the roads. We have to wait to put the plants out until it stops freezing at night.

He was shocked when he got here Saturday that it isn't flip-flop weather yet. We are in the schizo time of year. 70s today, snow tomorrow.
