Hi Everybody!
My Owner tells me today is Columbus Day, the day he landed on America. I am getting to celebrate a lot of new holidays! There were fireworks on the Fourth of July. I wonder what kind of celebrations they will have for Columbus Day.
This is a painting. In those days they didn't have cameras, she says. It seems that this Columbus sailed over the sea of darkness. They told him he would fall off the edge of the world. Really, a lot of people knew already that he wouldn't. But they didn't know where he would end up, she says. He ended up here. Not here exactly, but a place that's really an island in America. I'm not sure where it is.
Poor Columbus. My Owner told me he made four trips and ended up broke and in terrible shape. I wish he could have known how things are today in the land he discovered. Well, maybe not. When I listen to them talking, it seems like we're in trouble. That's what they say.
We're not taking a lot of trips on the weekends the way we used to. So, I can't tell you about the trips. When we go on a trip, I will tell you.
