  Because the Bible Says So?

The church of Scientology is digging deep and emailing me daily. I took a quiz few years back on line to see if I would qualify, needless to say it took them this long to decide if they wanted me or not.

I just purchased a Scientology book on Amazon for a penny. I know what you are thinking: "Witchy you are crazy!". I know, but curiosity got the cat. I just need to know what they are all about.

I try not to form uneducated ideas about ANYONES faith without exploration. I like to know why does someone believe what they do and do I believe it or not. To often people have preconceived notions without digging deeper.

Scientology is really just a mystery to me. I would like to know what has made Tom Cruise so devote that he comes off like a lunatic. I wish I had some of his excitement.

I am not too worried about being sucked it. I am a tride and true skeptic. I really take close looks and inspect for holes and non-truths. I ask questions, sometimes too many. The door knockers,Jehovah Witness, come around and skip my house. I have never been rude to them I just have some questions and it may take a minute or two. I guess they don't have the time.

I know that the worst answer someone can give me is "Because the Bible says so." It agitates me because I watch these same people pick and choose what in the Bible is real or pertains to them. I am in no way trying to come down on Christianity. I don't pick on anyones faith for goodness sake I just ordered a book on Scientology.

My opinion of Scientology is it is very scarey and mostly we only see the celebs who make the religious cult look good. My nephew who was also from Oregon joined the group after graduating from high school. They had him on the streets selling trinkets and in return he got HIV from the man who was his "spiritual leader." My nephew now is out of the cult and has a very dark view of it.

Sorry about your nephew. Also thanks for the offer of the move but I have to turn you down. I moved away from southwest Idaho because I'm not a fan of Cowboy Country. I love the Oregon Coast and am more of a hippie/rocker/pirate. Maybe someday I'll visit your neck of the woods.

L. Ron Hubbard was said to have been sitting in the green room at a Science Fiction Convention with a bunch of the old Big Names: Heinlein and that crowd. They were betting that they could, any one of them, invent a religion and make a fortune with it, because lots of people are so gullible. years later, the "Elronners" took Dianetics and ran with it to see if they could also make money off it. And they did. It's a religion invented to control people and part them from their money, and it works just fine.

You are not alone my wicked friend. I purchased Dianetics out of curiosity($1.00 at an antique store.) Just for the record, L. Ron Hubbard was a Sci-fi author before he founded his cult. I tried reading that and thought Huh? I don't understand any of it. I don't believe in organized religion. I don't knock it. Whatever make you feel better. Just don't push your beliefs on me. If I were to believe in something, I think the Wiccans got it right. I'm not kissing up either.

Read what I wrote to WWW above. I think that you need to get out of that Lincoln City culture and move down to cowboy country. lol Love & Hugs - Annie :o)

I agree about what people say about the Bible. I don't believe in picking and choosing. I believe what it says and I let God help me make my choices. In the new testament it says don't judge other people because you'll be judged the same way. Wow, keep me out of that seat! Anyway, my hubby read all about the "religion" and it's really not one. It's a belief system. It's based on the aliens visiting the world, but I guess you knew that. Anyway, have at it! I think everyone should read up on all religions because without that, how would you know?

Yes I know about the alien thing, but only a little about it. I want to know how anyone can really believe it, but I guess they (Scientologist) consider that to be advanced study. I don't know if I will get that far.

It is always good to explore other belief systems. It usually reinforces your belief system any more adamantly.

I am interested in different ideas and beliefs also. Like you, I want to know why! Curiosity is a good thing! Let me know what you find out.

Curiosity seems to always get the best of me, but I think it is exciting searching for the truth.

I will do a post on what I learn once I get the book. If no one hears from me for a while it means I asked the Scientologist one too many questions.
